Pamela A. Kan is a second-generation manufacturer where she serves as President of Bishop-Wisecarver in Pittsburg, CA. Pamela is a leader in manufacturing and an advocate for ensuring the next generation of makers are inspired to join the industry. With a business degree and a background in retail, Pamela carved out her role with the company early on by leading their marketing efforts. Her title and responsibilities have changed over time, but now as the president, she embodies the role of a compassionate leader. Under her leadership, Bishop-Wisecarver has doubled in size and the company continues to grow and diversify.  Pamela views her role as being part of the solution.  Her guidance to others: step up and “create a different future.”  Join in and listen to Leading the Family Legacy to hear Pamela’s story.

Pamela Kan has over 30 years of business experience.  Pamela joined Bishop-Wisecarver in April of 1991. In May of 2000, the Board of Directors appointed Pamela to the role of President. In 2009, Pamela gained controlling interest in the company. In 2015, Pamela led the first acquisition for the company with the asset purchase of Specialty Motions, Inc.

In 2010, the company became certified in the Bay Area Green Business Program. Since July of 2011 the company has been a WBENC certified woman owned business. In 2014 Pamela was appointed as one of the WBEC Pacific Leadership Forum Committee Representatives (FCR). WBEC Pacific is a regional partner organization for the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the national organization providing certification for women-owned business. In 2017 Kan was appointed 2nd Vice Chair for the WBENC Forum Membership & WBE Recruitment team. Kan will serve in this new role while also maintaining her position as WBEC Pacific’s founding chair of the Manufacturing Industry Group.

In 2008 Pamela joined the Board of Directors of NAM - National Association of Manufacturers and CMTA – California Manufacturing and Technology Association, the later she serves on the Executive Committee. In 2017 Pamela joined the NAM’s Manufacturing Institutes Board of Advisors. In 2018 Kan was elected as a founding bard member for the Association of Manufacturers Bay Area.

Pamela joined the Power Transmission Distributor Association (PTDA) Foundation Board of Trustees in 2013.  The PTDA Foundation through the PT WORK Force programs enable PT/MC companies to recruit new employees and attain a sufficient, vibrant workforce.  In 2017 Pamela assumed the role of founding chair of the WORK Force Outreach Committee.

In 2017, Pamela joined the Women in Manufacturing (WiM) Corporate Partnership Council. WiM is a national association dedicated to supporting, promoting and inspiring women who are pursuing or have chosen a career in the manufacturing industry.
